Power Vs. Proximity

Hi Everyone!!!
I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas
#HBDJesus

In light of the Christmas season, we started last Sunday's sermon with

Isaiah 9:6 NKJV
For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

The emphasis was focused on who Jesus is. He is Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, [etc.]

the "etc." isn't in the verse, but the point is to remind you that He is the "I am that I am", meaning He isn't limited to one title; the list can go on and on.

Praise the Lord for the "etc."!!!!

Whatever it is that you're in, God can be your "etc."
He can do the impossible and be whoever it is you need Him to be at that time.

The question that was posed after the scripture was, "who is He to me?"
Who have you allowed God to be for you? In your life? In your situations? Who are you inviting Him to be? To what extent are you allowing Him to be that?

The answer to those questions depends on how close you are to Him. The thing is, the further you get away from the source [God], the less you can operate in its functionality [your "etc."]. If you're not close enough to the source, you can't enjoy the resource.

An example Pastor gave us was that he was driving First Lady's car and she was driving his. Her phone is connected to her car, so the music from her phone played in her car (the one Pastor was in). After a while, the music started to go in and out, not because there was anything wrong with the car, the phone, nor the drivers; the issue was the distance between her car and her phone.

There's nothing wrong with the power, check the proximity.

Acts 1:8
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Luke 10:19
Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

He's got the power. He's even given us some of it. We just have to work on the proximity to operate in the fullness of that power.

That power activates when we're close to Jesus.

Practical Example: Airdrop:
A feature for Apple devices where information can be sent to someone else who also has an Apple device; however, the only way the feature works is if you are in close enough proximity to do so and if the person accepts what's being sent.

Biblical Example: The Woman with the Issue of Blood
The woman had the faith to receive the healing she wanted and needed.
Jesus had the power He always had.
The difference in her situation pre and post Jesus was her proximity to Him.

"Even though we have the feature and everything works, our distance disqualifies our ability to share in that way."
What feature(s) are we shut off from simply because of distance?
What's being sent to us that we're declining to receive?

Word of Instruction: Be on God's tail in this season.
