Rest: Overcoming Restlessness Pt. 2

Hi Everyone!! As you all know, we've been focusing on rest for the past 2 weeks. Pastor did a recap on Sunday and you can review the last blog for those gems. So I'm going to just jump into the new stuff. Hebrews 4:9-11 NKJV There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.  10  For he who has entered His rest   [there's clearly a distinction between what His rest looks like and what ours look like. I just don't believe He took His eyes off of us and the entire world on the 8th day. His "routine labor" had ceased, but He was still responsible for being the manager of what He had just created. I don't know exactly what His rest looked like, but knowing the character of God, I don't believe He abandoned the world and did His thing until He was ready to come back. I think that's what Pastor was alluding to when He mentioned how we have to seek God for what rest looks like for us. I think it's dependent on our roles, positions, what'

Laborer's Sunday

Hi Everyone! Congratulations to those who were elevated on Sunday!! We are off to a new series where we are focusing on R E S T , specifically Overcoming Restlessness (aka or almost known as, There Remaineth a Rest) . This was the foundation of the series: Hebrews 4:9-11 There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.  10  For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God  did  from His. 11  Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest , lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience. Rest requires intentionality, and for some of us who feel like there will be a lack if we aren't always working, some discipline is also required. Rest is not an excuse to avoid ___, but it's changing the dynamic of your relationship with it at a particular time. Why do we rest?  You can't pour from an empty cup.   Therefore, during the time of rest, it's important to take time to fill up. "You can't b

Say + Hear + See

Happy Hump Day!! Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. (Romans 10:17) Outside of hearing the Word of God, it's important to hear yourself say some things. "Your flesh needs to hear your spirit say somethings."   If no one else speaks faithfully over your situation, you should be able to do so...it's necessary! "You cannot hear what you don't speak" 1 Kings 18:1, 41-45 NLT 18  Later on, in the third year of the drought, the  Lord  said to Elijah, “Go and present yourself to King Ahab. Tell him that I will soon send rain!”  41  Then Elijah said to Ahab, “Go get something to eat and drink, for I hear a mighty rainstorm coming!” 42  So Ahab went to eat and drink. But Elijah climbed to the top of Mount Carmel and bowed low to the ground and prayed with his face between his knees. 43  Then he said to his servant, “Go and look out toward the sea.” The servant went and looked, then returned to Elijah and said, “I didn’t

FAITH

Hi Everyone!! Last Sunday, we were given several definitions and reasons for why FAITH is important: Faith is Necessary for a Vision to be Fulfilled and it's Needed Now and Later. Hebrews 11:6 - But without faith  it is  impossible to please  Him,  for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and  that  He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. When God gives visions to us, I think it's safe to assume He trusts us to a certain extent that we'll be responsible enough to push that vision to fruition. The point Bishop was making here is that if you don't have faith, you aren't pleasing God and in turn, you likely cannot be trusted with the vision. Faith is needed both now and later - now to prove that you believe that He is God, and later to prove consistency and trustworthiness (at least these are my reasons and understandings for the now and later) Faith is the Key Ingredient for the Christian and the Christian Visionary W

I Surrender || It's Time to Come Home

Hello Everyone! You all are going to be hit with a double whammy this week. I'll include a recap of First Lady's Sermon in addition to this past Sunday's message. Don't worry, I'll condense them both so that it's not too overwhelming (i.e. no long scripture listings). First Lady spoke to us about surrendering and told us that in order to truly overcome, we're going to have to surrender. 2 Chronicles 20: 1-15 Long story short, all these people came to fight Jehosaphat and some other people went to him to inform him of what was coming. Jehosaphat was naturally afraid and decided to declare a fast throughout Judah. So they fasted and sought God together. While everyone was gathered Jehosaphat led a prayer that got God's attention causing Him to respond saying,   15  And he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the  Lord  to you:  ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of th

I'm a Believer

Hi Everyone! This past Sunday's sermon was like the faith boost's cousin. It emphasized how in order to have faith, we have to be believers. When we say we believe (in) God, we're also expressing a level of faith. Mark 9:2-29 2  Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up on a high mountain apart by themselves; and He was transfigured [definition:   transform into something more beautiful or elevated.]  before them.  3  His clothes became shining, exceedingly  white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth can whiten them [whirlpool has met its match; even the best washing machine couldn't get clothes as white as Jesus' at that moment] .  4  And Elijah appeared to them with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus.  5  Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”—  6  because he did not know what to say [nervou
